CERAMIC COATING

Ceramic Coating Sydney — Professional Paint Protection That Lasts Years, Not Months

Ceramic coating is the most advanced chemical protection you can apply to your vehicle’s paintwork. Unlike traditional wax or sealant that sits on top of the paint and washes away within weeks, a professional ceramic coating forms a permanent molecular bond with your car’s clear coat — creating a hard, hydrophobic layer that repels water, dirt, bird droppings, tree sap, UV rays and chemical contaminants for years.

At Epic Tint & Wraps in Chatswood, Sydney, we apply professional-grade ceramic coatings for cars, SUVs, luxury vehicles and everyday drivers who want to protect their paint investment and enjoy a car that stays cleaner, longer. Our team will advise on the right coating package for your vehicle, your lifestyle and your budget — and deliver a finish that leaves your paint looking better than the day you drove it out of the showroom.

Not Wax.
Not a Sealant.
Something Better.

Ceramic coating is the most advanced chemical protection you can apply to your vehicle's paintwork. Unlike traditional wax or sealant that sits on top of the paint and washes away within weeks, a professional ceramic coating forms a permanent molecular bond with your car's clear coat.

This creates a hard, hydrophobic layer that repels water, dirt, bird droppings, tree sap, UV rays and chemical contaminants for years — not weeks.

Why Paint Correction Matters
Before Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating locks in whatever is under it — permanently. Getting this step right is the difference between a flawless result and a sealed-in disappointment.

Coating Over Imperfections Seals Them In Forever

If your paint has swirl marks, minor scratches, water spots, oxidation or buffer trails, the coating will seal those imperfections in place — magnifying them under the high-gloss finish. This is a permanent outcome that cannot be undone without removing the coating entirely.

For vehicles with any paint imperfections, we recommend a paint correction step before ceramic coating. This involves a careful machine polish to remove or minimise defects — leaving the paint in the best possible condition before the coating is applied. The result is a flawless, deep gloss that showcases your paint's true colour and depth.

We'll assess your paint's condition at consultation using a detailing light and paint gauge, and provide an honest recommendation — not an upsell. Paint correction is included in our Premium and Ultimate packages.

How to Maintain Your
Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating dramatically simplifies car care — but it still needs correct maintenance to reach its full lifespan. We provide aftercare instructions and a recommended maintenance product list with every installation.

01

Wash Every 2 Weeks

Use a pH-neutral shampoo and a high-quality microfibre mitt. Regular washing prevents contaminant buildup that can degrade hydrophobic performance.

02

Avoid Brush Car Washes

Automatic car washes with brushes introduce swirl marks that degrade coating performance over time. Hand wash only, or touchless automatic washes.

03

Ceramic Booster Every 2–3 Months

Use a dedicated ceramic coating maintenance spray (ceramic booster) every 2–3 months to refresh the hydrophobic layer and extend coating life.

04

Remove Contaminants Promptly

Avoid bird droppings, tree sap and industrial fallout sitting on the coating for extended periods — remove promptly to prevent permanent etching.

05

Dry Properly

Use a quality microfibre drying towel or leaf blower to avoid water spots forming on the coating surface. Pat dry — never wipe when dry.

06

Park in Shade Where Possible

UV exposure is minimised when parking under cover or in shade, extending coating life and maintaining gloss depth over the long term.

Ceramic Coating Sydney —
Frequently Asked Questions

The lifespan of a ceramic coating depends on the coating grade, number of layers, and how the vehicle is maintained. Our essential single-layer coating delivers approximately 2 years of protection. Multi-layer premium coatings last 3–5 years. With correct maintenance — pH-neutral washes, ceramic boosters, no brush car washes — some premium coatings can exceed these benchmarks significantly.
Ceramic coating adds measurable hardness to your clear coat and provides resistance to light surface scratches and swirl marks. However, it is not a physical barrier against stone chips, deep scratches or parking lot impacts — that's where paint protection film (PPF) excels. For full protection, many of our clients combine PPF on vulnerable panels with a ceramic coating over the entire vehicle.
Yes — and this is actually the ideal time. Applying ceramic coating to a new vehicle, before any swirls or contaminants accumulate, locks in that factory-fresh paint in its best condition. A new car treated with ceramic coating from day one will look significantly better after 3–5 years than an untreated vehicle. Many of our clients bring in new car purchases directly from the dealership.
No — they are fundamentally different. Car wax sits on top of the paint, providing temporary shine that washes away within weeks. Ceramic coating chemically bonds with the clear coat at a molecular level, creating a semi-permanent hard layer that doesn't wash off. The protection, gloss depth and hydrophobic performance of a ceramic coating are categorically superior to wax. Think of it as the difference between painting a fence and properly priming, sealing and top-coating it.
The easiest test is to examine your paint under direct sunlight or a single light source and look for swirl marks (circular fine scratches), buffer trails, water spot etching or haze. If you see any, paint correction should be done before coating. We inspect every vehicle's paint condition at consultation using a detailing light and paint gauge, and provide an honest recommendation — not an upsell.
